\"\"Eathorpe Egg Rolling<\/h4>\n

This event is probably unique to Eathorpe! Every Easter Sunday, villagers (and friends, relations and former villagers) gather on the humpback bridge on the way out of the village. The children enter a decorated egg competition and the judging of this takes place first of all. After the award of prizes, everyone walks to the top of Wappenbury Hill, each carrying a hard boiled egg. We all then proceed to roll these eggs down the hill. Very few survive to the bridge (eggs that is!)<\/p>\n

Afterwards everyone gathers at the village hall where there is a chocoloate egg hunt for the children, hot cross buns and tea for the adults and, finally, the raw egg throwing event. The picture gives an indication of the chaos of this event! But a fabulous time is had by all.<\/p>\n

\"EathorpeEathorpe Christmas Lights<\/h4>\n

From about the second week in December until just after New Year’s Day, Eathorpe becomes a veritable Christmas grotto, with just about every house displaying Christmas lights. Every evening, when darkness falls, Eathorpe Main Street becomes a little like Blackpool Promenade, full of families, usualy with young children attached. The fun is all provided freely by Eathorpe residents, although several houses will have charity collection points. We regularly raise over \u00a32000 for selected charities.<\/p>\n

The Pink Flamingo<\/h4>\n

With the apparent demise of our local pub, The Plough, Eathorpe residents decided to take matters into their own hands and apply for a licence to run a pop-up pub in the Village Hall. This is now going strong and we hope to run on a one evening a month, probably at 6pm on the last Thursday of Friday. However opening depends on volunteers prepared to run it so check the Bookings Diary to see when it will be flying next.<\/p>\n

It’s also making occasional appearances on the first Sunday of the month at 10am serving coffees, teas, cakes and the famous Eathorpe bacon sandwiches. \u00a0Again check the Booking diary for the next date.<\/p>\n
