MOBY DICK
Eathorpe Village Hall
Saturday, 6th February at 8.00 p.m.
The great white whale is coming to Eathorpe!
First commissioned by Sir Alan Ayckbourn, Richard Derrington has adapted Herman Melville’s ‘Great American Novel’ as a 2-hander. Last seen in Eathorpe as a Victorian poacher in his one-man show, ‘Taylor’s Tickler’, Richard has recently been receiving rave reviews for his performance in Warwick as Scrooge in ‘A Christmas Carol’. (You might also have seen him last summer in the lead role of Willy Loman in ‘Death of a Salesman’).
He is now presenting this show which explores the monumental themes of obsession and revenge. It manages to be both funny and moving. Ahab, Queequeg, Daggoo, Tashtego, Stubb, Starbuck, Flask – they all appear, and a few more besides – all performed by just two actors.
A special ingredient of the show is the other actor. Richard is performing for the first time EVER with his 19 year old son, Ned, who has been working with the National Youth Theatre. So who plays the part of the whale? You’ll have to get a ticket to find out!
